We want you to have the ultimate in flexibility when sharing your videos with friends and family. You will receive 3 versions of your wedding video; a short “teaser”, a longer “trailer”, both of which are perfect for sharing, and a "feature" or full length cut to cherish.
The moment that you meet eyes with each other for the first time in your wedding day attire can be overwhelming. Perhaps you’d prefer to do this in private. We can be there to document the excitement for you, to be relived again and again.
When anything memorable or special is planned for the rehearsal dinner such as toasts, musical performances, gift giving or surprises, you can rest assured that it will be memorialized in beautiful high definition.
A lot of thought and careful planning went into your wedding day look. This is a special, behind-the-scenes view of all the precious moments you share with your team as they help you prepare to walk down the aisle.
Our Story Vignette
A mini-documentary to capture the happy couple before the momentum of the wedding takes over. This video vignette centers on interviews with the bride and groom to be, as well as members of the bridal party, up to a maximum of 15 people. This feature works best when the interview takes place 30+ days before your wedding.
Q: CAN ALDER GROVE FILMS PROVIDE BOTH PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO SERVICES FOR MY WEDDING?
A: In order to give you the best possible results, we have decided to specialize in producing gorgeous wedding videos. As such, we do not offer wedding photography. As often as possible, we will attend your rehearsal to block out shots and coordinate with your photographers. Our camera operators are very cooperative with the rest of your team to make sure that everyone gets what they need.
Q: CAN YOU RECOMMEND A GOOD WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?
A: Yes! We would be happy to refer you to excellent photographers in our service area.

Q: I’M INTERESTED IN ONE OF YOUR WEDDING PACKAGES. HOW MUCH IS THE DEPOSIT TO RESERVE MY WEDDING DATE?
A: Once you have notified us that you are ready to move forward, you will receive an invoice for the deposit. The deposit fee for all wedding packages is $500.00, and is non-refundable. Included with the invoice is a comprehensive, plain language agreement laying out the terms of your client relationship with Alder Grove Films. Once we have received an executed contract, and your deposit payment has cleared, your date will be considered reserved.
Q: I’M PLANNING A WEDDING FROM OUT-OF-TOWN. DO WE HAVE TO MEET IN PERSON PRIOR TO THE FIRST DAY OF SHOOTING?
A: We are happy to accommodate our out-of-town clients. If you prefer, we can handle most, if not all business, electronically.
Q: HOW MANY CREWMEMBERS DO YOU BRING TO MY EVENT?
A: Wedding day coverage is mostly handled by a solo camera operator. Our operators do as much as possible on their own during your big day. However, in order to make sure that we get comprehensive coverage, our operators work with a partner while covering the actual wedding ceremony. The dual coverage of the ceremony is included in the cost of your wedding package. Additional operator time can be purchased at an hourly rate.
Q: CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT MY CEREMONY COVERAGE? I’D LIKE TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU CAPTURE ALL OF THE KEY MOMENTS DURING MY WEDDING SERVICE.
A: Our approach to weddings is that the film crew should remain small, nimble and unobtrusive. We want to get as much coverage as possible without becoming a distraction. During pre-production, we develop a plan based on the order of service, the layout of the venue, the size of the wedding party and any other available information. We offer the client two different styles of ceremony coverage to choose from:
The current trend with wedding videos is to take a more dynamic, cinematic approach to the ceremony coverage. In order for a small crew of camera operators to get a wide variety of angles and filmic motion, they must remain somewhat mobile. They will move discreetly to several different shooting positions throughout the service. Cameras are typically not rolling during these transitions, so operators must have a plan. We have in-depth discussions with the client ahead of time to determine the best times to reposition ourselves for the next shot. We communicate via wireless radio headsets during the ceremony to coordinate our movements. The result is a very stylish, albeit condensed presentation of the ceremony.
If you prefer the most complete coverage, our crew can keep the cameras rolling throughout every moment of the ceremony. We choose a few strategic locations from which to capture all of our footage. The camera operators never stop rolling to reposition themselves, so nothing is left out. The finished product is a real time video, which includes everything from the most forgettable to the most poignant moments. It’s worth mentioning that it takes longer to edit, and can be quite lengthy to sit through. Still, when you want to re-live every moment of the ceremony, nothing else will do.
Regardless of which coverage you choose, you can be assured that we will capture audio for the entire ceremony. We won’t miss the rites, vows, readings or anything else you have planned for your service. If the venue or a sound company provides microphones and a public address system, we will attach our recording equipment to their mixer board. In the case that no PA equipment is present, we will use our own wireless lapel microphones on the officiant and/or groom to discreetly capture audio.
Q: MY FIANCÉ/FIANCÉE IS UNCOMFORTABLE WITH BEING ON CAMERA. IS THAT GOING TO AFFECT MY WEDDING VIDEO? IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN DO TO HELP?
A: Some people aren’t thrilled about the idea of having a camera in their face. It’s also true that a person’s discomfort often comes across on screen, but this is usually because the camera is the center of attention. Our camera operators do our best to keep a low profile, shooting with long lenses so that we can film at a greater distance from the subject.
Q: CAN YOUR WEDDING PACKAGES BE CUSTOMIZED? HOW DO YOU CALCULATE AND APPLY FEES FOR ADDITIONAL WORK?
A: Our cinema packages are merely suggested starting points. We are happy to put together a custom product to fit your unique situation. If Michael can find a way to accommodate your request at no additional cost, he will. Otherwise, additional services will be subject to our standard video production rates.
Q: I’M INTERESTED IN THE WEDDED BLISS PACKAGE, BUT I HAVE A LARGE WEDDING PARTY. HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN I INVITE TO PARTICIPATE IN our STORY VIGNETTE?
A: The Wedding Story Vignette consists of sit down interviews with the bride and groom, as well as those people who are closest to the happy couple. Our crew decorates the set with beautiful lighting and a poster-sized print from your engagement session. If the couple has not taken professional photos together by the time we schedule the interview, we offer a discounted couples session especially for your vignette. The sitting fee for this session is $75. Either way, the oversized print is yours to keep after the interview.
Setting up and lighting the interview is a time-consuming process. As such, each participant is interviewed separately to avoid multiple lighting set-ups. We eventually weave the interview together with additional footage captured from the couple’s daily lives. Between the interview and the additional footage, the vignette requires a full day to shoot. Pick-ups, or additional interviews, can be scheduled for another day, and are subject to our standard video production rates.
Experience has taught us that participation in the Wedding Story Vignette should be limited to the bride and groom, close family, best friends, mentors, etc, or a maximum of 15 people. This sets the tone for the piece, and allows participants appropriate time to relax on camera and share personal feelings. Wedding guests who want to record a light-hearted message to the happy couple will have an opportunity to do so at the reception.
Q: HOW DO YOU HANDLE TRAVEL FEES?
A: We charge a $1/mile rate for the entire journey on any travel outside of our service area. This fee covers our crew’s time and travel expenses for in-state trips. Currently, our service area covers Greater Baton Rouge to Greater Lafayette.
Q: WE’RE PLANNING A DESTINATION WEDDING. WILL YOU TRAVEL OUT-OF-STATE?
A: We would love to cover your destination wedding. In addition to standard video production rates, our camera operator would need to be reimbursed for travel, lodging and per diem. Another consideration would be that many destination weddings take place in remote locations, to which it is often impractical to bring bulky equipment. Send us the details and we will provide a bid proposal.
Q: WHAT IS RAW VIDEO PRODUCTION, AND WHY DOES IT COST EXTRA?
A: Raw video production results in higher quality digital images by eliminating as much data compression as possible during image capture. Still awake? Good. This adds time to the editing process, as the resulting file sizes are quite large. The files take longer to transfer, duplicate, edit and render. They are also quite processor intensive to edit. We are set up to edit this footage already, but in order to capture it on the day, we will rent cameras that shoot raw. The same principle applies to higher resolution cameras. Interested in 2K, 4K, 6K video, etc.? Would you like your wedding to be filmed with the same cameras used in mainstream film and television? This can be arranged.
Q: CAN YOU INCLUDE DRONE FOOTAGE IN MY WEDDING VIDEO?
A: Drone footage is great, and we love it. There are some considerations, though. The FAA has established no fly zones, as well as altitude restrictions for drone usage. Weather can be an issue. Drones draw a lot of attention, so we would never use them during a ceremony. There are some safety issues to consider as well, when flying directly over people. As such, our drones must be used on a case-by-case basis.
Q: WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY FINAL INVOICE, AND WHEN MUST IT BE PAID?
A: Our standard practice is to send a final invoice within the last 30 days prior to your event. This invoice must be paid no less than 7 calendar days prior to the wedding day. Any change orders requested after issuance of your final invoice must be paid prior to delivery of your finished materials.
Q: CAN YOU MAKE REVISIONS TO MY WEDDING VIDEO ONCE IT’S FINISHED?
A: Don’t worry. The edit of your video is never truly locked. If you would like to request revisions after you’ve viewed your video, the first hour of touch-up work is complimentary. Additional edit time is subject to our standard video production rates. We receive these requests for a variety of reasons, but one common reason is to add/remove footage of a certain family member or guest. It’s not uncommon for the bride and groom to request such changes on behalf of their parents. We understand, and are happy to help.
Q: CAN YOU USE MUSIC FROM MY FAVORITE ARTISTS IN MY WEDDING VIDEO?
A: The backing music for your wedding video will always be used in compliance with all applicable laws. This is done in an effort to avoid problems with social media and video hosting services, as well as copyright holders, regarding possible infringement. We use licensed music provided by legitimate resources. You are free to browse our resources and choose your own music if you’d prefer. The cost of this license, typically $49.00, is included in the price of your package.
Alternatively, you can negotiate an agreement directly with a copyright holder to license their music for your video. Legal documentation of any licensing agreement will be required before your video is completed. Please be aware that such a licensing process could cause delays, which could leave Alder Grove Films in breach of contract over delivery deadlines. In such a case, we will use our own music resources to complete your project on schedule.
In the past, video editors flew under the radar, using unlicensed music in their wedding productions. In recent years, however, publishers and record labels have made examples of local production houses similar to ours. Many producers still get away with it on video sharing sites such as YouTube, because some record labels have agreed to take ad revenues from the site in exchange for usage. This is not true of sites such as Facebook, which strictly forbid copyright infringement. That being said, we want you to have the freedom to share your video wherever you want, without complications. To this end, we now use only licensed music in our products.
Q: HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY WEDDING VIDEO?
A: Our standard agreement guarantees that your materials will be delivered within 45 calendar days after your event. It typically doesn’t take this long, but we like to leave ourselves some breathing room during peak wedding season.
Q: DO YOU OFFER EXPEDITED EDITING? WHAT IS THE HONEYMOON OPTION?
A: If you prefer, we can get started on your edit the same day we shoot. We can upload your wedding video and you can watch it on your honeymoon! The fee for the Honeymoon option varies, depending on the package you select. Larger amounts of footage will be more time-consuming to edit. It should be noted that the minimum turnaround we can offer is 72 hours after the conclusion of your event.
Q: WILL YOU USE IMAGES FROM MY WEDDING VIDEO IN YOUR ADVERTISING OR PORTFOLIO?
A: Generally speaking, any original creative work remains the intellectual property of its creator, unless such ownership is surrendered in writing to another party. However, your wedding is a private event and we respect your privacy. As such, we always discuss any usage of a client’s likeness with the client prior to public display.
Q: HOW LONG DO YOU KEEP THE SOURCE FILES FROM MY WEDDING?
A: Our current practice is to keep copies of everything indefinitely, whether for Alder Grove Films’ future promotional use, or for additional client work down the line. We burn the files onto high capacity Blu-ray discs and store them offsite for safety. The discs are not playable, and only store the information.
Q: WHERE DOES THE NAME ALDER GROVE FILMS COME FROM?
A: Our name comes from the English translation of the French surname Varnado. The original French spelling was Vernadeau, which translates into English as alder grove, by water.
